What Do I Need to Apply?

New Horizons Minnesota Application Process

Your New Horizons Minnesota career consultant will review and assist you through the New Horizons Minnesota application process to help kick start your way to a new or advanced IT career. We will help you select and customize the program that is right for you.

You will need to provide the New Horizons Certifying Official a copy of your VA GI Bill® Certificate of Eligibility and your Application for VA Education Benefits (VA Form 22-1990) to include, but not limited to:

  • DD Form 214 (Member 4) for all periods of active duty service (excluding active duty for training)
  • DD Form 2384, Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) if applying for Chapter 1606
  • Copies of orders if activated from the guard/reserves

IT TECHNICIAN

Program Hours: 120 Hours
Prerequisites: None

In CompTIA A+, you will acquire the essential skills and information you will need to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, optimize, and perform preventative maintenance of basic personal computer hardware and operating systems.

In Network+, you will describe the major networking technol- ogies, systems, skills, and tools in use in modern networks. CompTIA Network+ validates the ability to select, connect, configure and troubleshoot basic network hardware, including wireless technology.

After taking CompTIA Security+ course, students will understand the field of network security and how it relates to other areas of information technology. This course also provides the broad-based knowledge necessary to prepare for further study in specialized security fields, or it can serve as a capstone course that gives a general introduction to the field.

NETWORK ASSOCIATE

Program Hours: 80 Hours
Prerequisites: IT Technician Program

The Network Associate program focuses on skills and knowledge necessary to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small to medium-size branch office Enterprise network, including configuring several switches and routers, connecting to a WAN and implementing network security.

MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER ADMINISTRATOR

Program Hours: 120 Hours
Prerequisites: IT Technician Program

This program covers the initial implementation and configuration of core services including Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), networking services, and Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 configuration.

Students will learn advanced configuration and services tasks necessary to deploy, manage and maintain Windows Server 2012 infrastructure, such as identity management, rights management, Federated services, network load balancing, and failover clustering.
